But after being out of baseball for several years due to injuries and setbacks, the 2021 season saw the 37-year-old Kazmira first-round pick by the New York Mets in 2002 out of Houstons Cy Falls High Schoolsigning a minor league contract with the San Francisco Giants. But that was just the beginning of the latest remarkable chapter in the left-handed pitchers career, a chapter he hopes lasts for a while. Still, its worth noting that when Kazmirs baseball days do come to a close, his future as an amateur golfer looks pretty bright. One of Bluejack Nationals founding members, Kazmir caught the golf bug when he was playing for the Tampa Bay Rays early in his career. Hes currently a 6-handicap, but he has spent little time on the course recently. His friend and Bluejacks director of instruction, Rich Barcelo, said Kazmir has almost unlimited potential as a golfer.Kazmir has the athletic ability to become as good as he wants to be at golf, Barcelo, a former Tour player, said. Being a pitcher, he also has the mindset. He has incredible speed in his swing, but plays with a shut club-face. When he can get his clubface more neutral, hell be off and running.44 BLUEJACK MAGAZINE'
